Holidaymakers 'like to buy pet insurance'

Those who choose to holiday within the UK like to know they have adequate pet insurance before doing so, it was claimed today.
Churchill Pet Insurance said holidaymakers often insure their animals because they fear an unusual or unfamiliar environment may cause them to get lost or go missing.
And while the company said it had no evidence to suggest the amount of pet insurance policies taken out increases during the summer, it said that warmer weather may affect the amount of claims made.
"In the summer months we are more likely to see claims for medical expenses relating to skin allergies and hayfever," a spokesperson for the company remarked. "Some breeds are more susceptible to certain medical conditions."
In related pet insurance news, Tesco Personal Finance said yesterday that owners of dogs listed on the Dangerous Dogs Act may be "pressed" to find a company willing to provide cover.
