Owners given pet first-aid tips

In addition to protecting an animal with adequate pet insurance, it might be an idea to learn ways to keep it healthy and help it should an accident occur.
With this in mind, the American Red Cross in New Jersey's Salem County has arranged a pet first-aid day, where participants can learn how to deal with various incidents.
According to Today's Sunbeam, the classes will include instructions on how to perform rescue breathing and what to do if a pet starts to choke.
In addition, owners are being invited to learn tips on how to deal with the immediate aftermath of a poisoning emergency.
However, while similar pet first-aid may be available to owners in the UK, a number of organisations have recently spoken out about the importance and security a pet insurance plan can provide.
The RSPCA said last week that some people do not realise how expensive veterinary can be and added that pet insurance was just one part of being a responsible owner.
