Chinese 'pay £250,000 for dogs'

Pet insurance customers might be surprised to hear that Tibetan Mastiff dogs are being sold in China for £250,000 - which may seem to many as a little bit expensive.
According to the Metro, the dogs have become an essential accessory for wealthy people in the country, although the same dog is usually sold for about £850 in the UK.
Although the newspaper explained that the Tibetan Mastiff is a rare type of dog, the chairman of a club dedicated to the breed expressed his shock at the rumoured £250,000 price tag.
"If this price is true it is ridiculous," said Richard Gardiner of the Tibetan Mastiff Club in Britain.
No details on how much the pet insurance for a dog of this type might be, although UK animal owners may find that different companies offer various policies dependent on the breed of dog, its age and medical history.
