Pets 'most pampered in Middlesex'

Pets residing in Middlesex may be more likely to be showered with accessories and treats, according to new data released by a national pet shop.
According to the UK Pets website, The Pet Extraordinarium has published a breakdown of its sales throughout the country and exposed the south-east county of Middlesex to be the top spenders, splashing out an average of £50.44 on every pet-related transaction.
The shop sells many products for all sorts of furry friends - and according to UK Pets it calls itself "a lifestyle store for animals".
The west Midlands was second in the list, spending £48.63 on goods, while Scots shell out an average of £44.23 each time they get to the till.
Although it may be most important to make sure a pet is comfortable and kitted out with a safe collar and tag should it go missing, recent comments from various industry figures suggest pet insurance may be an ideal way to prevent larger financial payouts further down the line.
Furthermore, Sainsbury's Bank communications manager Natasha Virtue said the pet insurance provider had seen a "steady increase" in the number of customers going online to buy cover.
