Responsible dog ownership 'very important'

Being a responsible dog owner is extremely important and may be improved by learning more about the animals, it has been suggested.
Hollie Sevenoaks, youth education manager for the Dogs Trust, also said young adult owners could benefit by attending classes designed to iron out concerns and increase training knowledge, reports the Maghull and Aintree Star.
This type of class is being launched by Dogs Trust Merseyside and aims to provide dog-training lessons for children aged between ten and 16.
"Through these Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme classes, young adults get to learn in a fun and enjoyable way," Ms Sevenoaks told the newspaper.
"These young adults are the dog owners of tomorrow," she finished.
At the end of six weeks it is hoped that the students will take a test to prove what they have learned, including basic dog commands such as sitting and staying.
Responsible dog ownership may also include taking out a pet insurance policy, which could help if a pet becomes ill and needs medical care.
