Pet dental health 'a priority'

Animal owners are being encouraged to take their pets to an animal hospital to ensure that their oral health is up to scratch, it has been revealed.
Owners of animals in Yeovil and Yetminster will have the chance to have their pet's teeth checked as well as receiving advice on brushing and dental diets to be used at home.
Member of the Yetminster and Yeovil practices carrying out the scheme Carrie Passmore told the Yeovil Express: "Periodontal disease is reversible in its early stages and this is something that we would like to get across to our clients."
"If we can catch it early enough we can treat it before it becomes a serious health risk to the animal," she added.
Ensuring that animals are cared for and are in a good state of health can result in owners not having to make potentially costly claims on their pet insurance policy.
The Pet Care Trust recently identified pet insurance as something that could "provide reassurance" for anxious owners, should they have to make a claim.
