Flea and tick numbers leap to record high

Experts have warned that the number of ticks and fleas is currently at an all time high after the publication of the Infest-Nation report.
Vets have advised pet owners to be extra vigilant regarding pet grooming over the coming weeks as autumn provides perfect conditions for parasites to live in.
Sabrina Stroud of animal healthcare brand ProMeris UK stated that during the peak autumn period "it is vital that pet owners use a monthly treatment and take a proactive approach to prevention".
As well as regularly checking pets for parasites such as fleas and ticks, animal lovers may find it beneficial to invest in comprehensive pet insurance to ensure that any potentially costly veterinary bills do not interfere with their furry friend's convalescence.
It was recently reported by Direct Line that dog owners in Britain spend a collective £1.5 billion on veterinary bills on an annual basis, while many animal lovers struggle to afford such costs.
