Corgis tipped to lead the pack in canine film awards

The corgis who played Dame Helen Mirren's canine companions in the 2006 film The Queen have been tipped to win first prize in the first ever Fido Awards.
Chief critic of the Times James Christopher stated that the Fido Awards will be to the BFI London Film Festival as the Palm Dog award is to the Cannes Film Festival.
He added that the prizes are open to all dog performances across the globe.
Accolades will be awarded in the following categories, Comedy Canine for dogs in romantic comedies, Blockbuster Bowser for pooches involved in an action movie, Cupcake Cinema for canines in a short film and Historical Hound for dogs in films set in the past.
Given the potentially dangerous nature of some films, consumers with budding film-star pets may wish to take out comprehensive pet insurance to ensure that costly vet bills are kept to a minimum, should the need for them arise.
Recent research by Direct Line indicated that a collective £1.5 billion is spent by UK dog owners on veterinary bills every year.
