UK rat sales 'rocket'

An increase in the number of rats purchased has been noted by animal superstore Pets at Home.
The rise may be due to the success of Disney's latest feature film Ratatouille, as the firm has reported a 50 per cent increase in the number of rats sold each week since the film debuted in UK cinemas earlier this month.
Some 2022 rats have been sold so far this month, a rise of 30 per cent on last month, but the company is advising against impulse buys.
Those who purchase an animal without thorough consideration of the creature's requirements in areas such as habitat and diet run the risk of making an animal ill, which may in turn result in the need for a claim on pet insurance to be made.
Ratatouille tells that tale of Remy, a rat with a love of fine dining, who wants to become a chef.
