Ensure pets stay warm this winter, says PDSA

Leading veterinary charity PDSA has urged pet owners to ensure that their animals are not allowed to get too cold this winter.
The organisation stated in recent weeks that despite their fur coats, many pets can quite easily develop conditions such as frostbite or hypothermia during colder months.
While it is easier for humans to put on an extra jumper or scarf when it becomes chilly, it is not that simple for animals.
PDSA notes that excess shivering, cold paws and ears, a slow heart rate, lethargy and disorientation may all indicate the onset of hypothermia.
Animal lovers may find that investing in comprehensive pet insurance allows them to concentrate on helping their furry friend convalesce should they become ill, rather than allowing potentially costly veterinary bills to become their focus.
The largest private employer of fully-qualified veterinary surgeons and nurses in Europe, PDSA celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.
