Curry-mad canine banned from favourite food
A Manchester dog has been banned from eating curry after issues over his health have been raised.
Dante, the 11-year old canine from Chorlton, has developed such a taste for spicy food after being fed leftovers from takeaway meals that he regularly appears outside restaurants and curry houses begging for scraps.
He even turns down regular dog food in favour of curry, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Due to his diet, Dante developed a bowel disorder and became overweight, meaning that he had to be put on a special diet and a fitness regime to get him back into shape.
While the pooch's problems have now been sorted out, consumers may find that animals that eat an inappropriate diet and do not exercise enough risk becoming ill and may require costly veterinary procedures.
As such it may be advisable to invest in comprehensive pet insurance to help with the possibility of mounting medical costs.
At the end of this month the top 21 dog-walking routes in the UK will be revealed by pet nutrition firm Hill's after weeks of online voting.
