Pant-eating pooch regrets brief encounter

A dog with a taste for eating underpants had to have some emergency surgery after a pair of undies got stuck in his stomach.
Taffy the puppy had worked his way through some 39 pairs of underpants in his few years before tucking into a pair of Bob the Builder children's pants.
However, the 40th pair did not go down well and got stuck in the springer spaniel's stomach, leading to a two-hour operation to remove the troublesome underwear.
Luckily his owner - 34-year-old Eubie Saayman from Tamworth - is a vet, so knew exactly what the problem was.
"His stomach was swollen and, during the operation, just as I thought, there [were] a pair of my son's Bob the Builder pants that had got stuck," Mr Saayman said.
The case highlights the need for pet insurance, as not all pet owners are vets themselves.
Recently, the Manchester Evening News reported the case of 11-year-old Dante, a pooch with a penchant for curry who was banned from eating the food as it gave him stomach problems.
