29-11-2007
Dogs and horses were among the guests at the recent European Pet Night, highlighting the importance of health and happiness to animals in the European Union.
Taking place in the European quarter in Brussels, the event was attended by a range of organisations representing the animal welfare and health sector.
Demonstrations by police horses, an assistance dog and a canine that helps in a school classroom were made.
Managing director of the International Federation for Animal Health Europe (IFAH-Europe) Declan O'Brien commented: "The success of this event highlights a keen interest of politicians, interest groups and citizens in the animal cause.
"Animals are important to society, so we should work together to protect their health and welfare."
Consumers wishing to be better able to cope with unexpected and potentially costly vet bills may find that they benefit from investing in comprehensive pet insurance.
IFAH-Europe represents manufacturers of veterinary vaccines, medicines and other animal health products in Europe.
