Doggy death threats for troubled canine heiress

A dog that has inherited $12 million (£5.8 million) from its late owner has gone into hiding after receiving death threats, it has emerged.
Trouble, a white Maltese, belonged to hotelier Leona Helmsley until her death earlier this year and was left the cash in her will.
According to the New York Post, the dog has been whisked away to an undisclosed location in Florida under an assumed name after receiving some 20 death threats.
Due to her habit of biting people, Trouble is said to have earned a number of enemies, the BBC notes.
While most consumers' animals may not be at the same level of risk as Trouble, they may find that investing in comprehensive pet insurance is a wise decision as it can help with potentially costly veterinary bills.
Owners were recently advised by the California Veterinary Medical Association to ensure that they take extra care with their animals in the run-up to Christmas due to the potential risks that items such as antifreeze and heaters pose to pets.
