Owners wishing to give their pets a special treat this festive season will be able to take their furry friends to visit Father Christmas.

Bath Cats and Dogs Home aims to raise funds towards a £1 million appeal it needs by setting up a Santa's grotto for pets and their owners.

Each animal that visits the facility in Claverton Down Centre will go away with a gift, according to the Bath Chronicle.

Rachel Phelps-Allen, spokesperson for the home, tells the publication: "We are looking at innovative ways of raising vital funds to care for our hundreds of animals as a result of the significant £1 million shortfall we are currently faced with."

She said that the organisation is happy to offer the opportunity to visit Santa in the run-up to Christmas.

Consumers wishing to ensure their pets are protected this festive season may find that they benefit from investing in comprehensive pet insurance.

Provider NFU Mutual recently advised consumers to ensure that their furry friends do not feel left out this Christmas by including them in the celebrations.
