A Croatian family have painted their home with black and white spots as a tribute to their late pet Dalmatian.

Goran Tomasic and his wife Karmen elected to paint their house after their dog Bingo was run over by a car.

Mr Tomasic explained that the couple wanted everyone to know what their pet meant to them and for his memory to live on.

"We have to admit that at first we were afraid of what the neighbours would say, but we loved Bingo so much we had to do it," he added.

Consumers wishing to ensure that their animals live as long and happy a life as possible may be advised to take out pet insurance to help pay for unanticipated vet bills.

In recent days, the RSPCA commented that it is "extremely important" for animal lovers to take out a comprehensive pet insurance policy to protect a furry friend against the cost of unexpected veterinary fees.
