Blood hounds

Animals are increasingly being treated for conditions and illnesses that would normally be a death sentence unless their owners were able to spend money on costly diagnosis and treatments, it has been reported.
Injuries and diseases which require a blood transfusion are now more regularly taking place in animals, reports the Coventry Telegraph.
The publication notes that 18 greyhounds from Rugby have donated to Vet Blood Supplies, which means that they can help save the lives of other dogs.
Sari Pearce, owner of Watch Kennels, tells the newspaper: "Greyhounds are an excellent breed to take blood from because they are pure bred and don't seem to suffer from the inherent diseases that some breeds do."
The publication adds that pet insurance is a booming business which also helps with the burden of veterinary bills.
Sainsbury's Bank recently stated that pet insurance can also help if an animal goes missing by providing financial assistance in raising awareness of the loss.
