Pet care tips outlined

A number of tips designed "to keep pets happy" have been outlined by Scott Miller at the Glasgow Sunday Mail.
He recommends carrying out a weekly health check to assess the general condition of an animal, as well as its teeth, eyes, ears, weight and skin.
Mr Miller adds that this may allow owners to pick up on potential problems early on and avoid "nasty surprises", which could result in the need to make a costly pet insurance claim.
He explains that playing with animals more allows them to get exercise and stay in good shape.
He adds that grooming them on a daily basis improves bonding with pets as well as keeping their coat in good condition.
Mr Miller concludes by recommending that animals are microchipped and wear their collar or tags to prevent them getting lost or help locate them if they do become separated from their owners.
In recent days, Hilary Benn outlined the importance of taking care of domestic animals.
