Lightning 'used to treat MRSA'

The power of lightning is being used in the fight against hospital superbugs such as MRSA in pet hospitals, it has been reported.
According to the Guardian, a system that recreates lightning are being used to clean cloths and blankets that ill animals are in close contact with.
Ozone, which is 3,200 more powerful than chlorine bleach, is created by a machine which runs a high electric charge over oxygen.
Bristol University's school of vet science is one of the institutions that uses the system, which is called Otex.
Head of the institution's Division of Companion Animal Studies Ed Hall tells the publication: "We used to have to boil the bedding... This uses cold water so it is more energy efficient."
Consumers looking to keep their domestic animals as healthy as possible may find that pet insurance helps with the cost of potentially costly veterinary fees.
In related news, the Glasgow Sunday Mail recently recommended that owners carry out weekly health checks on their pets to help ensure that they can spot any problems before they become serious.
