Pet text system established

Defiant dogs able to give their owners the slip while out walking may well be found sooner due to a new pet text system currently being run in the south of England.
Wokingham Borough Council has established a scheme called the Dog and Bone which alerts dog walkers to the presence of a missing mongrel so that they can keep an eye out for it.
At present, the local authority relies on animal wardens to spot wayward animals, as well as the vigilance of passers-by.
It is hoped that the scheme will alert dog-walkers to the fact that pets have gone missing as well as reducing the number of stray animals that could potentially cause road traffic accidents and scare local residents.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury's Bank stated in recent days that some pet insurance policies will provide financial assistance to raise awareness of a loss if a loved animal goes missing.
