Owners given advice on caring for ferrets

A new guide designed to help ferret-owners care for their pets more effectively has been launched in the UK. The publication, which has been developed by the British Veterinary Association's Animal Welfare Foundation (BVA AWF), has been released in light of the growing popularity of ferrets as pets around the country. Dubbed 'Caring for your ferret', the guide offers practical advice for animal lovers and could help consumers avoid making costly claims on their pet insurance. Issues of particular importance to ferret-owners, including breeding habits and relevant vaccinations, are discussed within the text of the BVA's publication. "Our new guide should ensure that even the novice owner has all the information necessary to ensure their pet's health and welfare," said Carl Padgett, chair of the BVA AWF Trustees. The animal experts behind Burgess National Rabbit Week recently claimed that poor dental health can leave rabbits with serious illness and potentially their owners having to make a pet insurance claim.
