Top 21 dog walks revealed

The UK's best 21 dog walks have been outlined by Hill's Pet Nutrition and a number of tourism bodies.

In collaboration with VisitScotland, EnjoyEngland and VisitWales, the company has listed the best walks across Britain in an attempt to highlight the importance of mobility for the pooches of the nation.

Winning walks included Hollington Lake in Lancashire and Loweswater in Cumbria.

Robert Gundry, consumer marketing manager at Hill's, comments: "20 per cent of dogs in the UK suffer from joint problems and the aim of this campaign was to highlight the importance of gentle exercise, together with a balanced diet to help improve mobility."

The firm states that keeping fit can help reduce stress, prevent depression and keep a animal at a healthier weight, which could reduce the likelihood of a pet insurance claim.

Meanwhile, a Labrador called Oscar recently won the UK-wide Pet Fit Club competition after shedding a total of 9.5 kg through a combination of dieting and exercise.
