Pet insurance 'important for owner liability'

While many owners may be aware that pet insurance covers any potentially costly veterinary bills as a result of illnesses and accidents, they may also find that they benefit from the peace of mind such a policy can provide.
Jenny Davies, media and public relations officer for animal charity PDSA, stated in recent days that a pet insurance policy may also aid the owners of boisterous and unruly animals.
"It is also an important consideration when thinking about the owner's liability for their pet's actions, such as damage to a person or property," she explained.
Meanwhile, recent research carried out by Sainsbury's Bank suggested that certain pet insurance policies can provide owners with funds to help them publicise a loss through a number of means, should their beloved animal happen to go missing.
Statistics from the financial services provider indicated that eight per cent of UK residents have had an animal go missing over the past five years.
