Pet owners given chance to microchip animals

Pet owners in Lincolnshire have been given the opportunity to have their animals microchipped for a reduced price, the local RSPCA team has revealed. Adding a microchip to an animal can save their owners valuable time and potential heart-ache if they go missing and experts in the process were encouraging people in the area to come and take advantage of their cut prices. The event was held in Sleaford on February 14th and those behind it have highlighted a number of cases in which animal lovers, including those who may have taken out a pet insurance policy, saw their dogs runaway only to be retrieved thanks to the microchip tracker system. "Microchipping really is one of the only permanent ways of identifying your pet and can be invaluable if your pet becomes lost or stolen," explained animal collection officer Becky Harper. An expert from the vet employer PDSA recently suggested that consumers can avoid costly pet insurance claims by making sure their dogs and cats are not allowed to become overweight or obese.
