Bowl your pet over

Pet owners keen to make sure that their animal never forgets the sound of their voice while they are away could well be in for a treat with the new Chatterbowl.

Made by Canadian firm Contech Electronics, the device is available for around £14 plus postage and allows owners to record a ten-second personalised message for their furry friend which automatically plays as they eat or drink from their bowl.

Verbal communications are stored on a small "TalkBox" which fits in the back of the bowl and can be removed for cleaning or re-recording.

The manufacturer states that the Chatterbowl could help animals deal with separation anxiety, which can affect canines in different ways.

Some dogs can injure themselves, which could result in the need to make a costly pet insurance claim.

Owners were recently made aware of the iSeePet360, a system which allows them to feed their pets over the internet.
