Presidential pet possibilities

There has been much discussion of the hotly contested leadership race in the run-up to the US presidential elections, but people may be slightly less aware of the animal candidates likely to occupy the White House at the end of the year.
John McCain is the front runner in terms of pet-ownership. He owns four dogs, a cat, a parakeet and a shoal of fish, the Times reports.
This puts him clearly ahead of the Obamas, who do not own an animal. The Clintons meanwhile own a chocolate labrador, with neither the dog or cat of Bill's years in government surviving to make a triumphant return to office should she win the election.
Mike Huckabee also has four dogs, putting him above both democratic candidates in the standings.
The animals set to leave office in the Autumn include Georgs Bush's dog Spotty and Barney, his famous Scottish Terrier who has had a profound impact on him during his time in office.
Concerning the occupation of Iraq, he is reported to have said he "will not withdraw even if Laura and Barney are the only ones supporting me".
