Pet travel 'on the rise'

Pets are increasingly being accommodated on many forms of transport, according to the Associated Press.
Dog behaviour columnist for the New York Dog and Dog Fancy magazine Andrea Arden tells the news provider that airlines are improving their facilities for animals.
"Because there is such a high demand for pet travel arrangements, companies are starting to realise that pets are so important to people - often as important as other family members," she explains.
The provider explains that some airlines allow animals to be stowed in carriers under passengers' seats, while an industry of taxis that allow animals to travel solo is beginning to grow.
It adds that some car insurance companies now even offer pet insurance clauses that cover injury to animals.
Meanwhile, financial services provider Fool.co.uk recently noted that there are a number of benefits to a pet insurance policy other than medical costs, such as the cost of a cancelled holiday should a sick animal need to be nursed.
