Online pet-finding service launched

A pair of online web resources has been launched to aid pet owners who lose their animals.

FidoFinder.com and TabbyTracker.com have helped more than 400 lost dogs and cats reunite with their families between them, the resources' creators explain.

Wes Cutshall, founder of the site, states: "We have more lost dogs and cats added to our database each day than any other public database."

The creators note that FidoFinder.com recently helped a lost Dachshund called Oscar to find his family after being separated for 17 days.

After placing flyers and posters at local veterinary clinics and contacting her local animal shelter proved fruitless, Oscar's owner listed his details on the site and received a call from the good samaritan that found him.

In related news, financial services provider Sainsbury's Bank recently noted that some pet insurance policies will help towards to cost of advertising an animal's absence if it goes missing.
