A concerned pet owner has launched an appeal to help him find his lost tortoise.
Captain Slow, a Horsefield tortoise from Iran, is worth £125 and was taken from his home at Pets Corner in Runcorn yesterday.
Mike Dolan, owner of the establishment - and Captain Slow - explains that he is concerned about the creature's safety as he requires a special diet and a heated environment.
The tortoise can fit on the palm of your hand, online resource thisischechire.co.uk explains.
"He's a lovely little thing. I don't want him coming to any harm," he tells the site.
A small reward is on offer for the safe return of the tortoise, which has a black and yellowish green shell.
Meanwhile, research carried out by financial institution Sainsbury's Bank suggests that certain pet insurance policies will provide owners with financial assistance to help them advertise the loss of an animal if it goes missing.
