Daring dog saves joey - pet insurance for dogs

One dog down under has been feted as a hero after saving a baby kangaroo from its mother's pouch.
Doing his bit for the natural world, Rex pulled the joey from its mother who had sadly died in a car accident.
Estimated to be about four months old, the baby kangaroo was saved near Torquay in Victoria, Australia, the Scotsman reports.
The pointer's owner, Leonie Allan, thought that he had found a snake when he began acting strangely on a walk, but when he returned to his handlers' side he dropped the joey at her feet.
Dubbed Rex Jr, the marsupial is now in the care of a wildlife sanctury.
"He obviously sensed the baby roo was still alive in the pouch and somehow grabbed it by the neck, retrieved it and brought it to me. Rex saved the day," she asserted.
Courageous canines are not the only animals to be acting in a heroic fashion - recently it was reported in the Bolton News that the Makin family were saved from a fire when their pet cat smelled smoke and raised the alarm.
Those hoping to ensure their brave companions remain in good health may wish to invest in pet health insurance to cover the cost of mishaps.
