Cat 'off the hook' from worms - pet health insurance

A cat with a mysterious illness is free from worms, it has been reported.
Online resource Fosters Daily Democrat explains that it was thought that Gingerbread, a seven-year-old feline, had been infected with a giant kidney worm when worm eggs were discovered in his urine.
However, following ultrasound and blood tests, the parasite was nowhere to be found.
Sheila Ryan, development and marketing director for the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, tells the publication that the cat is now on a course of antibiotics.
"We are hoping the antibiotics will stop the progression of the renal failure ... we are doing everything we can," she adds.
A pet health insurance policy could well help with potentially costly veterinary bills.
Meanwhile, Direct Line Pet Insurance recently stated that many owners put their animals at risk by not keeping their dog or cat's vaccinations up to date.
