Wispa 'saves owner's life'

A 38-year-old teaching assistant from Gloucestershire has thanked her dog Wispa for helping to save her life. Anna Davis noticed a lump on her chest when Wispa jumped up to her and after a visit to the doctor it was established that the moth-of-two had breast cancer. Now undergoing treatment for her condition, Ms Davis has paid tribute to Wispa, whose efforts could serve to highlight the importance of securing a good deal on pet insurance for dogs. "If Wispa had not jumped up, I might not have found out in time for doctors to treat me," said Ms Davis. "I owe a lot to Wispa for jumping up and stretching out her claws," she added. Ms Davis will be among thousands of other charitable Britons at Cheltenham Racecourse in July for Cancer Research's UK Race for Life event. Dogs are not the only pets making a difference, however. A report from the Bolton News last month revealed that a cat named Ellie woke her owners in their beds in order to raise her own feline fire alarm.
