Family pets 'should join in the green effort'

There is a lot of advice out there these days for anyone who is worried about the environment, why then should the family pet not play a part in making our homes a greener place? Many ideas are available on the internet, like baking dog treats from wheat germ and baby food to help cut down on the unneeded packaging of bought products.
Alternatively, owners can try using lemon juice in place of flea powder, according to Eco Dog, a book by Corbett Marshall and Jim Deskevitch published by Chronicle Books. Other ideas include using natural products such as baking soda and vinegar in place of unhealthy cleaning products which can be harmful to your pets. The company Animal Pure is one of many that specialise in eco-friendly alternatives for your pet including grooming products, treats and toys.
