Missing cat up for award - pet health insurance

A Scottish cat who disappeared for more than three years before returning to its owner is in the running to win a national award.
Spats, a black tomcat, disappeared from Peeblesshire in 2005 and returned this year, according to the Peeblesshire News.
During his disappearance, the cat looks as though he could have made use of some pet health insurance, after returning with an abscess on his face, a broken leg, a chunk missing from one of his ears and just four teeth remaining.
However, Spats recovered after £300 of veterinary treatment and is now in line to win the Most Incredible Story category in the 2008 Rescue Cat Awards.
Owner Lynnet Home told the newspaper: "He's in good health now and he's still got his four teeth.
"I don't know what happened to him when he was away but we're delighted hes back."
The previous winner of the category was kitten Munchie, who was found under the bonnet of a car about to be scrapped.
