Northamptonshire is looking for its bravest canine as Towcester Veterinary Centre searches the dogs that have been the most courageous in their recoveries, according to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.
Members of the public will be able to vote for the bravest dog by visiting the Towcester Veterinary Centre, with the closing date for votes Friday, April 25th. The winner will be announced and presented with a prize at the centre's family fun day on April 27th.
Among those shortlisted in the competition include Dilly the dalmation, who was injured in a farming accident and Fern, a lurcher, who has made a full recovery after suffering a broken leg from a car accident.
Joining the accident-prone pets, who could all use pet health insurance, is Denzil the anaemic whippet and springer spaniels Gil and Megan.
Holly Phillips, a veterinary nurse at the centre, told the newspaper: "A lot of the owners play a huge part in their pet's recovery and it's a way to let people know what we can do here and what happened to the animals, and to show our appreciation to the owners."
Towcester Veterinary began as a one-man farm practice more than one hundred years ago that has evolved into a ten-vet practice dealing with farm, equine and small companion animals and is located in nearby Paulerspury.
