'Rent-a-dog' service to hit UK - pet insurance for dogs

Californians who do not have the time to look after a dog full-time can now 'rent' a canine pal by the hour and the scheme is coming to the UK in the near future.
The enterprise is known as FlexPetz and is due to arrive in London, New York and San Francisco by the end of the year.
It was founded by behavioural therapist Marlena Cervantes after she witnessed the positive impact of dogs on autistic children who could not look after a pet on a permanent basis.
"Our members are responsible in that they realise full-time ownership is not an option for them and would be unfair to the dog," she stated.
"It prevents dogs from being adopted and then returned to the shelter by people who realise it isn't a good fit."
Members are charged a yearly fee of £50, a monthly payment of £25 and a per visit charge that can range from £12 to £20.
The dogs are fully house-trained are shared between no more than three people.
FlexPetz provides rescue dogs with a new home and are regularly checked by vets. Every few months, the dogs receive refresher training sessions with certified dog trainers.
