Celebrations for hero hound - pet insurance for dogs

A champagne celebration has been laid on for a pet dog that foiled an armed gang.
Daisy barked furiously when three robbers attempted to hold up a jewellery shop in Winchester, Hampshire.
The gang, which had robbed the premises in a previous incident, entered the jewellers in December 2006. But Daisy's persistent barks meant that the owner, Jeremy France, had chance to set off an alarm that filled the shop with smoke.
The robbers have now been convicted, although one of the gang managed to abscond while on bail and is being hunted by police.
Mr France told the Hampshire Chronicle News: "We have been opening a few bottles of champagne to celebrate."
In the US, an organisation has compiled a list of the top dog heroes for every year between 1954 and 2004.
According to Kibbles 'n Bits, the most popular acts of canine heroism include alerting homeowners to fires, pulling children from lakes and protecting people from snakes and other harmful animals.
