Missing cats make it home - Cheap pet insurance Two lucky Hartlepool cats have been reunited with their owner after going missing.
Chilli and Pepper were let out by their owner, who wishes to remain nameless, last week and promptly disappeared, reports the Hartlepool Mail.
However, she spotted her felines in an article published by the paper, which told how they had been found a nature site by countryside wardens Robert Smith and Dave Jackson.
The feline friends, who should have pet insurance given their wandering ways, were then taken to the Cat Orphanage in Middlesbrough, which contacted the paper in the hope it would lead to a reunion.
Linda Putson, who runs the animal shelter, told the newspaper that the female owner called once she saw her cats and noted it was rare to return missing pets to their home so quickly.
She commented: "There's not many cats that we find as strays that we ever manage to rehome, even the ones that come with microchips in."
Last week, research from Sainsbury's revealed that one million pet owners believe their missing animals have been stolen.
