A doggy detective, and her owner, has helped to uncover the mystery of some missing false teeth.
John Dowse and his pet labrador Alma set to work crime fighting when three sets of false teeth worth over £3,000 went missing, reports the Coventry News.
The Cheylesmore dental technician discovered that a delivery containing the teeth, along with bottles of milk, had been swiped from his doorstep.
He then decided to check the local area, in case children from a nearby school had taken the package.
"The dentist surgery is not far from a school so I thought it may have been mischief-makers," Mr Dowse told the paper.
"I rang my wife and asked her to drop off the dog and we had a wander around the playing fields and the hedgerows," he continued.
With Alma's help, who is a brood bitch for Guide Dogs for the Blind, the teeth were discovered in a school hedge.
According to csmonitor.com, a Utah terrier called Duke is being used for detection of a different sort.
The dog's keen nose - which should be protected by pet insurance - is been used to help homeowners locate mould in their houses.
