A north-east couple hope that their business selling clothes for dogs will land them £1 million, it has been reported.
Debbie and Mark Nelson believe that expansion of their Sunderland-based Charlie & Ben Designer Petwear firm is around the corner after signing a deal with a Chinese manufacturer, according to nebusiness.co.uk.
Charlie & Ben Designer Petwear will now stock the range of clothes made by IS PET, bringing the range of canine clothes the store offers to 25 outfits.
The couple believes that the extra products will cause the turnover of their £130,000 firm to swell to £1 million over the next five years, and plan to open a second shop offering pet grooming and daycare services.
Mrs Nelson told the website: "I think dressing pets up has always been popular. However, this has usually been in the form of drab tartan coats.
"We're just taking it to the next level and people have responded well."
At the 2007 Clothes Show Live event, celebrities Peaches Geldof and model Nicola T bought outfits from the firm for their pampered pooches.
Charlie & Ben Designer Petwear began trading 2006 and sells a range of hoodies, T-shirts, coats and jumpers, all aimed at dogs, as well as some items for cats.
