Two police dog handlers are planning to enter their animals into a national competition and come out as the country's best dog and handler.
PC Paula Boniface and PC Tom McGeehan, who are officers on the Barking and Dagenham council's parks police team, will be putting their German shepherds through rigorous tests during the National Police Dog Trials in Brentwood this weekend, reports the Barking and Dagenham Recorder.
Two-year-olds Blade and Ben will battle with 12 other dogs from around the UK to win the competition, which will test a variety of disciplines like agility and courage.
PC Boniface told the Recorder: "I've been trying to enter this competition for three years, so I'm very proud to have been selected this time."
Last month, it was reported that South Korea police has begun training seven sniffer dogs that were cloned from the DNA of one of the force's top dogs.
