A rescued parrot showed it was happy to see her owner by squawking "Here's Mum" when she arrived to collect the animal, it has been reported.
Babes, an African grey, flew away from her owner, Mary McIntyre after being startled by traffic, according to the Daily Record.
Ms McIntyre said she feared she had lost the bird for ever, but was reunited with the nine-year-old parrot after the people who found her contacted the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The owner, who works for the council, told the newspaper: "We got her into a carry box and put her in the car. I was talking to her and she just said, 'Here we go.'
"She'd had her little adventure and she was just fine."
Babes can say "hiya", "cup of tea" and tell the family dog Buster to "pack it in", although Ms McIntyre quipped that she will be teaching the bird her address.
According to african-grey-parrotonline.com, the birds are among the most intelligent in the animal kingdom and are known for their ability to pick up words and phrases.
