Statue to remember devoted dog - Online pet insurance quote

Campaigners have called for a statue to commemorate a dog who stayed next to his owner's dead body for eleven weeks in the Cumbrian hills.
Graham Nuttall died in January 1990 while walking his dog Ruswarp, a border collie, and the faithful pet stayed with his owner's body until the spring when it was discovered by a walker.
Now an appeal has been launched by Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line, of which Mr Nuttall was a member, to try and raise the £8,000 needed to have a statue built at Garsdale railway station.
Chairman Mark Rand told the Newcastle Sunday Sun: "What Ruswarp did was a remarkable demonstration of canine devotion that we think deserves to be remembered."
He added that he hoped Ruswarp's statue would become as famous as that of Greyfriars Bobby, which stands in Edinburgh.
The Skye terrier watched over his owner's grave in the Scottish capital for fourteen years until his own death in 1872.
