RSPCA offers advice for summer - Pet insurance for dogs

As the summer approaches, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has reminded dog owners about the dangers of heat stroke.
The charity pointed out the dangers of leaving dogs in areas that are likely to overheat - highlighting cars, but also noting that caravans and conservatories can also reach high temperatures.
Stating that an open window or water bowl are no help to a dog inside a car, RSPCA chief veterinary adviser Mark Evans said: "Even on an average warm, even cloudy summer day a car may become unbearably hot and stifling.
"Imagine how terrifying it would be if you were locked inside, unable to escape the oppressive heat and humidity."
Other advice that the RSPCA offers for dogs coping with the summer includes grooming regularly to remove excess hair and seeking advice on pet-safe sunscreens for areas such as noses and ears.
The RSPCA works on local, national and international levels to reduce the suffering of animals.
