A Sheffield cat saved his owner's life when it warned him about a fire in the house, it has been reported.
Ginger feline Flint woke up his owner when the semi-detached home in Gleadless Townend burst into flames on Sunday morning, according to the Sheffield Telegraph.
This warning gave the unnamed owner time to alert his parents, who were asleep downstairs, and contact the local fire brigade.
Andrew Kelly, watch manager with the fire service, told the newspaper: "If it was not for the cat this could have been worse.
"Two other cats ran out but then this one came back for the owner."
He continued to reveal that the fire was severe, but no injuries were caused, meaning that there will be no claims on human or pet health insurance.
The fire, Mr Kelly revealed, had been started by smoking materials and had been contained in an upstairs sitting room by a closed door.
Earlier this month, it was reported by the Lankland Echo that a pet parrot was resuscitated after being rescued from a house fire.
