St Bernard in lifeboat rescue - Pet insurance for dogs

A 15-stone dog had to be rescued from a Cornish beach after being unable to climb up the steps to escape the tide, according to reports.
Arnold the St Bernard, a breed more often used to help rescues, easily made his way down the 130 steps to Whipsiderry beach, near Newquay, states the Daily Mail.
However, when the tide began to return, the dog had trouble making his way back up the cliffs and became stuck on the beach.
Despite attempts from his unnamed female owner to coax him up the steps, the hound refused to leave the beach, leading her to contact the local lifeguard.
After the Newquay Coast Guard Rescue Team failed to get the pet up the stairs, they called in the inshore lifeboat to whisk the ageing dog away from the area.
A spokesman for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute told the newspaper: "The coastguard was concerned about whether they could fit a huge dog in the D Class lifeboat. The dog was fine, just very old."
Earlier this week, the BBC reported that Bilbo, a 14-stone Newfoundland, was banned from Sennen Cove after being relieved of his lifeguard duties.
