Car maker Honda is trying to make dogs their next market, it has been reported - even though driving is not covered by pet insurance.
The Japanese car firm has launched a website which sells the benefits of their vehicles from a dog's point of the view, according to Reuters.
Among the reviews are dimensions of cargo space, for storing pet cages, and a rating system for how easy is to remove dog hair from the seat fabric, as well as a directory of canine-friendly cafes and hotels.
Teruhiro Murai, an internet marketer at Honda who developed the concept, told the news provider: "There's definitely a need there that wasn't being met."
Colleague Tokio Isono, a chief engineer of Honda, agreed and commented: "It helps to show people exactly how our cars can be canine-friendly."
The website, which is currently only in Japanese, receives 1.5 million views a month, with a survey indicating that around 100 people had bought a Honda based on the information.
In 2006, the BBC reported that a breakdown patrol man used a dog to start a car.
A female motorist called the AA when her car would not start, only for the repairman to discover her dog had eaten the key fob immobiliser chip.
The car started when the pet was placed in front of steering wheel.
