A 90-year-old man who went missing from his home on the Dorset/Wiltshire border was found by a search and rescue dog.
Charlie, a four-year-old border collie with Dorset Search Dogs, was called in to help police with the search after the unnamed man went missing on Saturday (May 31st).
The search dog was able to pick up a scent and found the elderly gentleman hours after he went missing.
Matt Cooke, dog handler and chair of Dorset Search Dog, said: "It was very obvious that he had picked up on a scent by the way his nose was sniffing the air.
"He was moving a long distance away from me and he kept returning to me to alert that he had found a scent by barking."
Bob Knott, president of Dorset Search and Rescue, revealed that the man had fallen over and was unable to stand up. He was sent to hospital for treatment.
Dorset Search Dogs was founded in February 2006 to help police look for missing people.
