Luxury store Harrods is to open a bakery for animals in its refurbished pet section, it has been reported.
The shop has asked animal bakery Vanity Fur to set up an in-store counter and supply its customers' pets with cakes and biscuits, reports the South Essex Echo.
Based in Leigh on Sea in Essex, Vanity Fur features a deli display and table for dogs to eat at, as well as housing a pet spa and holding events for animals such as beach parties and Christmas dos.
Among the treats on offer at the bakery are cheese and Marmite bones, liver and garlic cookies and paw-fiteroles.
Stephanie Mehanna, who founded Vanity Fur, told the newspaper that she was inspired to start the business when she saw the popularity of animal bakeries in the US.
"I realised that bakeries for dogs were big business in the States, but I couldn't find anything like that here. There was a whole new industry to be started," she explained.
In addition to opening the Harrods branch, Ms Mehanna also revealed that she is filming a cookery programme with celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson and hopes to set up Vanity Furs across the UK.
