RSCPA: Staffies not bad dogs - Pet insurance

The RSPCA has hit out at the bad press surrounding Staffordshire bull terriers and suggested that the dog makes a good pet.
Claiming the breed has become the "most unwanted dog in England and Wales", the animal charity has revealed that its centres have seen a surge of unwanted Staffies.
They are now the most common breed of dog to be taken in by the charity, followed by German shepherds, rottweilers and Jack Russell terriers.
Saying that bad and irresponsible owners are the reason the dog has gained a reputation for aggressive behaviour, the RSPCA points out that a well-trained Staffordshire bull terrier can be the "perfect pet".
Mark Evans, RSPCA chief vet, said: "Staffies have had a terrible press, but this is not of their own making - in fact, they're wonderful dogs.
"When well cared for and properly trained they can make brilliant companions."
Pet Adoption Week started on Saturday (June 7th) and aims to highlight the pets that are in the charity's centres which need new homes.
